Abstract: Recent development of optical/infrared interferometers made it possible to measure the effect of rapid rotation on stellar shape and surface brightness distribution. We observed Altair (A7IV-V) with the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer and found that the star is not only elongated but also asymmetrically brightened because of its rapid rotation. In this poster, we report the results of our observation and discuss how the physical parameters of the rotating star are constrained by these interferometric data.
