Abstract: From a theoretical point of view models for OB stars suffer from a variety of instabilities operating at subphotospheric levels. Their occurrence as a function of and dependence on stellar parameters and evolutionary state will be reviewed. We shall report on theoretical results concerning the final fate of violently unstable objects. The physics of the instability mechanisms will be commented on.
