Abstract: This is a dinner talk presented in the Symposium “New Trends of Radio Astronomy in the ALMA Era: The 30 years anniversary of Nobeyama Radio Observatory”. Large mm-wave facilities of NRO, the 45-m telescope and the five-elements interferometer, brought Japanese observational astronomy a big jump toward frontier of universe. Here we introduce a brief history of Nobeyama Radio Observatory including early Japanese radio astronomy and also some after-effects of NRO, spotlighting leading astronomers and characteristic features of the “Nobeyama”.
