Abstract: We explore the possible diagnostics offered by the detection of stochastically excited oscillations in hot stars. We take the β Cephei HD 180642 and the O-type star HD 46149 as examples: we compare the modeled amplitudes and widths (using a fully non-adiabatic code) with observed ones and describe the constraints that can be drawn on convection and the star's age.
