Abstract: We utilize the great angular resolution and unprecedented cadence of the Advanced Imaging Assembly instrument on the Solar Dynamics Observatory to characterize shocks forming in the low solar corona. We present recent observations of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) off-limb bright fronts and radio shock wave signatures. Our analysis shows that the EUV observations correspond to compressed plasma behind fast coronal shocks, but they do not uniformly accelerate electrons at their nose. We have attempted here to estimate the significance of magnetic geometry for accelerating energetic particles in a model coronal shock.
