Abstract: The small and high density hypercompact HII regions may represent a phase previous to the development of the ultracompact HII regions. I summarized observed properties of these regions. I discuss a simple model for their morphology and the effect of dust. I briefly review some dynamical models that may explain the observed motions in these regions.
