Abstract: It is becoming increasingly clear that the colour magnitude diagrams of some associations cannot be fitted with a single isochrone. However, the inferred age spreads may not be real. One possibility is that accretion introduces an apparent age spread into a co-eval population. This, however, requires accretion rates above those observed in T Tauri stars. We present observations of composite spectra objects in ρ Oph, suggesting that these objects are accreting mass at a rate high enough to affect their inferred ages, thus producing the apparent age spreads observed in young stellar associations.
