Paper: Sagittarius A* as an AGN

Abstract: I present a concise and incomplete history of the discovery of Sgr A* almost 30 years ago (1974). The early VLBI attempts and successes are discussed. A more complete historical overview will be presented by Goss, Brown, & Lo (2003). A number of recent radio and mm observations are summarized: circular and linear polarization detections, time variations and possible quasi-periodic behavior, and determinations of the motions of Sgr A*.
