Abstract: AXAF and XMM have instruments with far higher angular and spectral resolution than ASCA, ROSAT, or Einstein. In particular, we look forward to the first generation of moderate resolution coronal spectroscopy of cool stars. We will summarize here the capabilities of the AXAF and XMM instruments and identify some of the new coronal physics that these instruments will soon allow us to study.
