Abstract: The Sun's 11-year activity cycle, as observed in visible light, radio waves, ultraviolet, and X-radiation, is now a well-established phenomenon. In contrast, observed activity cycles in cool stars are limited primarily to variations in Ca 2 chromospheric reversals. X-ray observations of active cool stars have produced little or no evidence for cycles similar to the Sun's. This result is likely a combination of observational limitations and the nature of the stellar dynamo in very active stars.
