Abstract: Spectroscopic observations of seven dwarf irregular galaxies in the Virgo Cluster were acquired to establish the correlation of metallicity with the gas mass fraction and gravitational potential. The correlation is compared with that recently discovered for field dwarfs in order to determine whether the evolution of galaxies in Virgo has been affected by the environment of the cluster. We find that the oxygen abundances for our Virgo sample is offset by about 0.3 dex from abundances for local dwarf irregulars at a given gas mass fraction and potential.
