Abstract: The Odessa Astronomical Observatory keeps the collection of Sky Patrol Plates, which is one of the biggest in the world after the Harvard and Sonneberg collections. The Depository consists of about 100,000 photo plates exposed from 1909 to 1998.

However, this important astronomical information has been unavailable due to difficulties with the searches of the object at the glass archive and old-fashioned data reduction procedures. Digitization of the photo plates and subsequent online access to the Depository will provide an opportunity to follow an astronomical history of some objects during an almost 100-year period.

Nowadays, when technical devices and recording media have achieved the necessary level and quality it is time to launch the digitization project. The project is developing in the overall planning of the IVO.
