Abstract: In the era of data-intensive astronomy, it is increasingly difficult to keep up with the analysis of the observations. Traditional in-memory batch processing is no longer an option and we must develop new methods for on-the-fly studies. Not only does this allow us to deal with this wealth of information but also to interactively analyze the streams as they are collected and recorded. Recently streaming algorithms have been successfully utilized in astronomy and enable us to move to bigger volumes and smaller machines. Here we highlight our current efforts to optimally combine images in a streaming fashion.
