Abstract: We have conducted high velocity-resolution observations of the CH3OH (Jk = 2k – 1k) lines toword TMC-1 to investigate the production mechanism of rm CH3OH in cold starless cores. The line shape of rm CH3OH is found to be much different from those of other dense gas tracers like CS and carbon-chain molecules, indicating that the distribution of rm CH3OH is different from those of the other molecules. A small mapping observation indeed confirms this. On the basis of the result, we discuss the possibility of non-thermal desorption of rm CH3OH from dust grains.
