Abstract: We present the optical and near-IR photometry and spectroscopy of the type Ia SN 2003cg from day −9 to day +386 from B maximum. SN 2003cg reached an apparent magnitude at maximum Bmax = 15.94 and had a postmaximum decline rate Δm15(B) = 1.17. The overall appearance was normal, both photometrically and spectroscopically. However, the extinction deduced in severals ways gives an exceptionally high E(B-V)∼1.15, with an unusual Rv∼2.0.
