Abstract: Over 60% of the galaxies in the IC 342/Maffei group have been detected in recent years (since 1994) by sensitive searches for weak optical and radio (HI) emission within the zone of avoidance. We present single dish HI observations of all 22 galaxies of the IC 342/Maffei group of galaxies and high-resolution (~ 22'') observations for Cassiopeia 1 and MB 1. For a number of these galaxies photometric distances are available, suggesting an average distance to this group of 2.8 Mpc.
