Abstract:	The Gemini Telescopes Data Handling System (DHS), developed by the Canadian Astronomy Data Centre, consists of eight server programs, a graphical user interface (GUI) and a tool for displaying images. The DHS GUI controls and monitors the entire DHS by communicating with only two of the eight DHS server programs. This paper describes the communication model used by the DHS GUI.
