Abstract: We analysed the optical light curve of the blazar 3C 66A which was cardinally improved by our extensive data set (1974-1991). Strong evidence for a 2.5-year period was found for the time interval of moderate activity of the object (1972-1992). The predictions made using this period are also in good agreement with the light variations in the time scale of months observed during the bright state (1993-1997).
