Abstract: Red and H-alpha images for 20 compact groups were obtained with the Kitt Peak 36-in. telescope in order to study the history and future evolution of spiral and elliptical galaxies in the Hickson compact groups. Thirty-three of the 45 galaxies observed are classified S0/A or later type. The dominant group member generally has a peculiar rotation curve, in contrast to lower luminosity galaxies, which tend to have more normal rotation curves.
