Abstract: We use the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) to observe a comprehensive sample of hot DA white dwarfs in order to uncover abundance patterns that could help us to constrain the diffusion theory. FUSE covers a spectral range that contains several strong lines from key atomic and ionic species. Using NLTE stellar atmosphere models, we analyze 59 DA white dwarfs over a wide range of stellar parameters. The effective temperatures range from 16,000 K to 70,000 K and the surface gravities range from log g = 7.0 to 9.0. We present an abundance analysis for the light elements C, Si, P, and S for which we measure abundances or set stringent upper limits in case of non-detection.
