Abstract: The activities and experiences of the 2017 Solar Eclipse sparked a year-long exploration of light in a pre-K classroom and a conviction each child expressed that s/he is a scientist. During the course of each light investigation, students asked questions, researched answers, asked more questions, made predictions, devised tests, consulted experts, and wrote up their findings. Their consistent use of scientific practices has resulted in the majority of students planning to be some kind of scientist when they grow up!
