Abstract: The evolution of disk hosting young stellar objects over the time frame 1-10 Myr is briefly reviewed. Emphasis is put on the evolution of mass accretion rate and stellar magnetic field properties, two central ingredients that dictate the nature of the star-disk interaction, i.e., how accretion proceeds from the inner disk edge to the central star, thus impacting its longer term evolution.
