Abstract: A substantial fraction of isolated white dwarfs (WDs) are strongly magnetic. An even higher number of magnetic WDs are reported in cataclysmic variables (CVs). However, we have been struggling to find them in detached, close binaries. Recently, we identified a pair of such systems with K star companions. We suggest that we could not recognize them because they replicate CV behavior by fueling accretion onto the WD through the coupled magnetic fields of the WD and chromospherically active K star.
