Abstract: The expected observational optical magnetic-field manifestations in the O9.7 Iab supergiant–a component of the Cyg X-1 X-ray binary system are suggested. In the framework of the simplest model, we consider the influence of the magnetic field of this supergiant on its atmosphere. The magnetic pressure is found to be comparable to the model-atmosphere gas and radiative pressures, exceeding them in the area around the magnetic poles. As a result, the formed bright spots may be revealed by the optical photometry, multicolor or spectral observations of linear polarization, or spectral-line profile variability in high resolution spectral observations. An example of the observed Hβ line profile variation is given.
