Abstract: We derive properties of white dwarf companions to luminous stars by means of ultraviolet spectroscopy. The Lyman line profiles constrain the temperature and gravity of the white dwarfs. The parameters are used to estimate the white dwarf ages and masses enabling a study of the binary birth and evolution and possible constraints on the initial mass ratios.
