Abstract: We discuss mid-infrared spectropolarimetric observations. Modeling of the polarization spectrum yields important dust grain information, including chemistry, mineralogy and shape, allowing the evolution of dust to be followed between different environments. The position angle yields the magnetic field direction projected onto the plane of the sky. This can then be compared with other “symmetry” axes associated with the source, such as disk and/or out- flow axes, in order to investigate the role of the magnetic field in star formation.
