Abstract: We study the origin of the massive stars observed close to Sgr A*. We argue that the stars were formed in a ~ 104Mʘ accretion disc that existed around Sgr A* in the past. We present a numerical study of star formation in a massive disc and show the influence of radiative cooling on the resulting mass function. Finally, we study the dynamical evolution of stellar discs and compare them with the Galactic center observed stellar dynamics. We find that an initial geometry more complicated than a single cold disc is needed to reproduce the data.
