Abstract: Spectroscopic observations of the classical symbiotic Z And during its 2006 outburst revealed bipolar jets as additional emissions near its Balmer lines. The jets appeared in July and remained visible until December. The jet components of the best studied Hα line appeared to have EWs of about 2% of that of the central emission and radial velocities around ±1100 kms−1. Taking the inclination of the system to be 47° and assuming the perpendicularity of the jets to the orbital plane gives their true velocities close to 1700 kms−1. At the same time, other emission lines showed their usual behaviour, characteristic of Z And outbursts.
