Abstract: I examine the mass transfer and accretion processes in the recurrent nova RS Ophiuchi. In particular I consider the mass transfer from the red giant to the white dwarf by Roche lobe overflow and stellar wind capture. Both possibilities remain plausible mass transfer methods. The stability of the likely accretion disc around the white dwarf is also addressed. Both hot and cold steady-state disc models face a number of problems in explaining observed system properties and theoretical expectations. It is possible a two phase, hybrid disc model may be able to explain much of the system’s behaviour.
