Abstract: We review the computational procedure to construct classical line-blanketed NLTE model atmospheres with the ALI method. In detail we discuss: Approximate Lambda Operators, fast solution techniques for non-linear rate equations, pre-conditioning of rate equations, super-level approach for heavy metal line-blanketing. Most recent successes and failures in applications are shortly presented.
