Abstract: Spectra of Markarian 474 were obtained to search for short-term (less than one day) variability in the broad Hb and Ha profiles. Observations were carried out using a slit spectrograph and a three cascades image-tube attached to the 70-cm reflector. The processing of the series spectrograms, observed on 24-25.04.99, showed a rapid (less that 20 minutes) and powerful bump of the continuum in the region of [OIII] 5007 A. An increase of intensity of continuum near maximum of bump (5060A?10A) approximately was equal to 300%. The FWHM of bump was equal to 170A?20A. The dying-out of bump lasted approximately two hours.
