Abstract: In this poster we indicate the possibility of detecting the Sunyaev Zel'dovich (SZ) effect from massive young galaxies at high redshift. We use the results from the hydrodynamical galaxy formation models of Friaça and Terlevich (1998) to show that giant elliptical galaxies could get pressures and temperatures high enough to get a central Comptonization parameter comparable to the central Comptonization parameter observed in galaxy clusters. The maximum value of the Comptonization parameter which is a functi on of the galaxy mass, is obtained for redshifts between 5 and 20. The small projected sizes of these systems makes them perfect targets for deep millimeter surveys with a large collective area telescope such as the future LMT/GTM or the millimeter array ALMA.
