Abstract: The development of fringe-fitting for Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) in AIPS++ offers an opportunity to provide a wider range of capabilities than has been traditionally available in fringe-fitting applications. Taking advantage of generic methods in the AIPS++ toolkit, a variety of interactive visualization tools, a range of weak-signal detection-oriented options (including adaptive fringe searching and incoherent methods), and flexible processing control are being included in the the AIPS++ fringe-fitting application. This contribution describes the novel fringe-fitting options currently being developed. These capabilities will prove especially valuable to the expanding mm-VLBI community, where signal and coherence are both limited, as well as to ambitious cm-VLBI observers (e.g., space-VLBI). The AIPS++ fringe-fitter will also eventually provide a model platform for on-the-fly data examination for existing post-observation correlators, and for future fiber-linked VLBI arrays correlated in real-time.
