Abstract: I present a simple, closed-box, analytic model for inhomogeneous chemical evolution that assumes no mixing, but incorporates a contamination filling factor Q. This model shows better agreement with the Galactic disk stellar metallicities than the homogeneous closed-box model. There is also excellent agreement with the halo metallicities, representing a relatively unevolved system. These results offer a revised interpretation of the observed metallicity distributions and details of gas infall.
