Abstract: Globular clusters in galaxies provide excellent test particles of the underlying potential out to many effective radii (reff). The kinematics of globular clusters in NGC 1399, the central cD elliptical in Fornax, and M87, the central giant elliptical in Virgo, are presented as two examples. In NGC 1399, globular clusters show signs of orbital anisotropy as well as a transition between the gravitational potentials dominated by the central galaxy and by the galaxy cluster, with most globular clusters being associated with the latter. In M87, we detected significant rotation in the halo at 3 - 4 reff, implying that one major merger probably dominated the past history of the galaxy.
