Abstract: This lecture introduces the material necessary for successful planning, observing, and imaging of spectral-line data. This includes a review of important centimeter-wave spectral lines and the science done with them. It also includes choosing an array configuration, specifying velocity rest frames, and setting up the correlator. The lecture concludes with examples of an OH maser and of HI in emission and absorption.
