Abstract: We present our large search program for planets orbiting M dwarfs. This primary mass range is not yet explored very well. Because of their faintness in the visible and activity level, M dwarfs are difficult targets for radial velocity surveys. We present radial velocity precisions obtained for our ELODIE and FEROS surveys, suitable for giant planet detection, which allowed the discovery of Gl876b in the only M-dwarf planetary system. We also discuss new opportunities to increase the achieved radial velocity precisions to allow the detection of very low mass planets orbiting M dwarfs.
