Abstract: The assessment that 80% of the b Cephei stars are members of multiple systems while all theoretical studies so far are based on single stars has encouraged us to undertake a systematic study of the pulsational behaviour of early-type stars in binaries. Hereto, we have gathered numerous high S/N spectroscopic data in the past few years. We present our detailed observations of the line-profile variations of the target stars. Our sample consists, up to now, of four b Cephei stars and four slowly pulsating B stars. The analysis of the line- profile behaviour will be presented. We derive the orbital and the pulsational parameters as accurately as possible. For those objects for which we have a good orbital and pulsational phase coverage, we study the relation between the pulsation frequencies and the orbital motion. Our results will point out if a re-evaluation of the scarce theoretical studies of forced oscillations is warranted.
