Abstract: High spatial resolution observations of sunspots have been made with aperture synthesis instruments for over two decades. Sunspots appear as bright features at short cm wavelengths, due to thermal gyroresonance (g-r) emission from layers where the local gyrofrequency is a sub-harmonic of the observing frequency, providing a powerful diagnostic of the sunspot magnetic field above the photosphere.
