Abstract: This is a preliminary report on low-mass stars. NGC 6397 HST data are compared with a solar-neighbourhood sample, confirming that metallicity plays a non-negligible role in determining the observed subdwarf distribution. New evolutionary computations of very-low-mass stars (VLM) are presented. The theoretical main sequence computed for metallicity feh = -1.91 shows very good agreement with the HST data of NGC 6397.
